This faculty-led short-term study abroad course immerses students in the rich
cultural, historical, and educational traditions of Mexico, with a focus on teaching and learning through the
lens of educational psychology. Students will begin the course on July 6, 2026, during the Summer 2 term,
engaging in two weeks of synchronous and asynchronous learning to prepare for a 9-day international field
experience in Puebla and Mexico City (July 18–27, 2026). The course concludes on August 7, 2026, with a final
week of post-travel reflection and coursework. Drawing on sociocultural and bioecological theoretical
frameworks, students will explore the intersections of culture, education, and development. Activities
include site visits, discussions with local educators, community engagement, and reflective assignments
that promote intercultural competence, global awareness, and culturally responsive insight into Mexican
educational practices.
